I Will Always Love You - Short Story

Girl met Boy at a friends party. They quickly became friends. Leaving the party that night, Boy told his friends he liked Girl and if they knew how to contact her since Girl said she didn't have a phone number.

After a few days, Girl gets a surprise visit from Boy. Speachless, Girl invites Boy in and they hang out. Boy tells Girl he has missed her and that he really likes her. Girl, naiive and never before really liked someone, just smiled. She didn't know what to say or do about the matter. Boy, sensing her nervousness, asked Girl out. Girl happily agreed.

Over weeks, the new couple grew to really like each other and became a an official couple. They were inseperable and happy. Boy began to love Girl, and Girl began to love boy.

After their first kiss, Girl couldn't stop thinking about Boy, and same with Boy. Their love grew stronger and stronger as the days passed by.

"You know I love you, right?" Girl asked Boy, smiling sweetly and holding his hand.

Boy nodded, "And you know I love you?"

Girl nodded and hugged the boy, "I'll love you forever. Remember that. No matter what. Until I die, you'll be in my heart. My last thought will surround you and every heart beat will be for you."

Boy hugged Girl tight and kissed her forehead.

The weeks passed and things kept going well for Boy and Girl. Until one day, Boy and Girl broke up. Both were devestated, but didn't show it. Friends worried at first, but never said anything. Their families sensed something was wrong. Boy and Girl stayed silent.

Girl suffered more than anyone thought. She cried herself to sleep. She was depressed. She felt the need to die, but didn't want to because what she had said to Boy earlier in time was true. "I'll love you forever. Remember that. No matter what. Until I die, you'll be in my heart. My last thought will surround you and every heart beat will be for you."

Girl decided to start being happy again, keeping Boy in her thoughts and living for him. That was the only way she could. But still, silently, she praying she would get over Boy.

Boy and Girl didn't talk for a year. They never mentioned each other, but they longed to see one another. Each still loved the other. The day came for their 1-year Anniversary. Boy had thought it through and was going to go and get Girl back. Girl had the same idea.

On their way to each other's house, Girl had to pass over a bridge (but she was in a taxi). Boy went the other way to her house, through a bunch of neighborhoods.

Boy arrived at Girl's house an hour later, after stopping and buying something for her. He knocked on the door and waited patiently. A lady opened the door, she looked tired and worried.

"Hello? You are?" she said a little too pushy.

Boy introduced himself. He said he was there to see Girl. The woman's face fell and she told the boy to come in. He followed her to the kitchen and she picked up a notebook and handed it to Boy.

"This was hers. She was writing in it -" the lady sniffed and continued, "she was writing in it and then got hit by another vehicle. She died about 30 minutes ago. I didn't know her well, but her mother found this and.. she had a feeling that you'd be by today."

Boy's heart broke. He thanked the lady and left the house. In his car, he sat and read through Girl's notebook: her thoughts about the relationship, after the break-up, her dealing with the pain of it all, and much more.

Her final words seemed to be a letter directed to Boy..

I've decided to come and see you after a year. What happened last year was the best thing that has ever happened to me in my life. You are and always will be the love of my life. You will be the reason my heart beats, the reason I breathe, and the last thought on my mind before I go to sleep. You are the shine to my sun, the glow to my stick, the one who made everything perfect and bright. You should know this, because I've said it too much already.

Today is our one-year anniversary and I wanted to share it with you - whether you are single or not, happy or not, or willing to see me or not. I just need to see you.

I know I need to get over you. And doing so will kill me. I don't know if I'll give this to you or not, but it is yours.

Just remember - I will always lo

and that was the last thing Girl ever said, ever thought, ever felt.

• Boy was the last thought on her mind.
• Boy was the reason her heart kept beating and she had forced herself to get over him - which coincidentally ended her life, like she predicted.
• Even though she said he would be in her heart until she died.. or her death would be because she was over him.. Girl would never stop loving Boy.

Girl watched from a distance, clasping her hands and smiling. Her iridescent, unseen body was becoming more and more transparent as time passed. She unclasped her hands and blew a kiss to Boy,

"I'll love you forever. Always remember that."
